Associate Software Engineer - Conversion Architect

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Software Engineer functions as a key member of the Development team for the assigned business unit. Duties involve aspects of design, engineering, and interaction with QA to implement commercial medical/dental software products. Experience with database architecture, schema and data manipulation required. Experience with data exportation from unknown database schema desired. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Engineer, code, and debug both new and legacy code

? Ability to create and perform unit tests desired

? Participate in coding and code reviews for final product

? Develop standardized processes and documentation for database conversions

? Be accountable for agreed upon development schedule

? Assist in quality assurance measures (code reviews, unit and interaction test case creation, etc.)

? Assist User Documentation Specialist in assembling information for user documentation

? Assist Technical Support and development team in solving programming-related problems

? Work closely with supervisor

? Ability to multi-task and work well under high pressure

? Good communication and interpersonal skills

? Work well independently as well as in a team

? Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

? High school diploma (Associates degree in an IT area desired)

? Minimum of 6-18 months of software engineering experience

? Some experience in applicable object-oriented software languages preferred (preferably C, C#, C++, Delphi, and/or SQL)

? Current on new technology and development techniques within the software industry

? Experience in object-oriented software engineering methodologies

? Proficiency with Relational Databases and SQL

? Proficiency in applicable object-oriented modeling languages (such as UML or OSA)

? .Net or J2EE architecture skills desired

? Experience with database architecture, schema and data manipulation required

? Experience with data exportation from unknown database schema desired

? Experience with DataJunction or other methods of database exportation processes and tools desired

? Ability to understand legacy code, domain space and refactor to new code base

? Ability to handle frequent object model and database schema changes

? Good analytical and design skills at single product/single environment level

? Good skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation

? Proficient PC skills with working knowledge of Window/Win 95/98/NT development

? Good documentation skills

? Good training and mentoring skills

? Innovation and IP experience
