Biomedical Field Service Engineer - Boston

IRIS International, Inc., a profitable and dynamic, publicly traded, medical equipment manufacturing Company located in Chatsworth, CA has an opening for a Field Service Engineer to service accounts in Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire.

 

IRIS is a leader in automated urinalysis technology with its equipment installed in major medical institutions throughout the world.  IRIS manufactures the only clinical analyzers, which utilize real-time flow imaging, capturing microscopic images digitally. Our systems are operated by touch screen interfaces pioneered by the Company for use in urinalysis and microscopic urinalysis of body fluids.  The Company?s imaging systems use patented and proprietary Automate Intelligent Microscopy (AIM) technology for automating microscopic procedures, enabling clinical laboratory technologists to rapidly and efficiently analyze and process specimens automatically, thereby reducing the costly and time-consuming manual steps required for microscopic analysis.

 Basic Job FunctionPerform effective, high-quality installations, maintenance checks and repairs on all Iris-marked instruments, per the standards trained.

 Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by utilizing proper customer relation skills and performing all repairs within acceptable time frames.

 

 Maintain parts costs and expenses at acceptable company standards.

 Perform work tasks with the highest level of safety in the utilization of proper tools and service techniques.

 Roles and ResponsibilitiesPerform instrument field service functions (i.e., installations, routine maintenance and repairs) and technical telephone troubleshooting 24/7.

 Plan effectively to schedule all services on all assigned instruments in required time frames according to policy, completing and providing all necessary documentation to appropriate company personnel.

 Diagnose instrumentation problems and perform repairs using proper techniques to provide quick resolution. Open and close calls per current policy and ensure timely documentation.

 Manages and maintains adequate personal inventory levels in order to perform efficient repairs in required response time according to policy, while keeping parts costs to a minimum.

 Use the highest level of customer relation skills when working with customers.  Communicate professionally, respecting the customer, the company and its employees at all times.

 Acts as a team member to support a variety of service activities including repairs in other territories as assigned or as required.

 Plan travel arrangements for service calls to meet response times, while maintaining travel expenses at acceptable levels.

 Keep management informed of service activities, to include, but not limited to changes, problems, concerns and daily reporting of work schedule before 8:00am.

 Performs other duties as assigned.

 Education

AS Electronics/Biomedical Engineering

 Minimum Requirements

3 years field experience in the medical industry.  Biomedical engineering in a clinical setting required.  Must live in Boston or vicinity and within 1 hour of a major airport
