Bladed Product Design Engineer

CITY: Bethlehem STATE: Pennsylvania COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
* Interpret customer requirements, industry standards and GE design standards to produce cost effective - reliable machine designs.
* Performs and documents design calculations, communicates results to organization and customers.
* Performs inspections of assemblies and components at our facilities as well as customer site to document components and assemblies as a basis for future design work.
* Supports the drawing creation cycle, procurement cycle, manufacturing cycle, assembly, and testing of turbomachinery, technical support of field service operations and commissioning of turbomachinery.


Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering or HS Diploma plus 4 years technical experience in turbo-machinery.
* Knowledge of materials.
* Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and in writing, technical principles and project conclusions to both fellow specialists and non technical personnel.

Desired:
* Master's Degree Mechanical Engineering
* Minimum 3 years of mechanical design experience in rotating machinery.
* Minimum 3 years of turbo-machinery experience with the following- Axial Compressors or Steam Turbine or FCCU Hot Gas Expanders.
* Proven experience performing repair & overhaul assessments and methodology.
* Proficient in the use of MS Office applications and AutoCAD 2002.
* Design experience with API 611, 612, 617 & 687.
* Knowledge of API 613, 6714 and 671.
* Design experience ASME pressure vessel codes, in particular Section VIII Division 1.
* Ability to obtain technical competence on all CONMEC products and services - Axial Compressors, Centrifugal Compressors (including the supporting Steam Turbine drivers) and FCCU Hot Gas Expanders.
* Ability to work in a cross functional environment. Must be self motivated and disciplined to carry out all necessary tasks to achieve business goals.
* Knowledge of analytical functions: Aerodynamics, Rotor-Dynamics and Finite-Element Analysis.
* Practical Manufacturing and Field Service support experience.
* Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (GE Employees only)
* Proficiency in thermodynamics, mechanical design of machine components and stress analysis.
