Department: Engineering  

 

Reports To (Title): Engineering Supervisor



 

 

JOB OBJECTIVE:

 

To produce accurate, as well as, complete manufacturing drawings and material lists for items to be produced.  Engineering documentation must adhere to and fall within the cost estimate, and/or quote for the job. Shop processes and abilities are to be taken into consideration.  Provide guidance for Detail/Drafter on large or more difficult projects.

 

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

?  Complete Class 1, 2, 3, and 4 engineering work requests with little or no guidance.  This will include assembly drawings, detail drawings and materials lists required to manufacture the product.  Determine materials and construction methods to be used.

 

?  Assume a leadership role within the department on large projects.

 

?  Involved in pre-production reviews and meetings.  Work closely with Sales, Project/Account Managers, Purchasing, Shop Supervision, VA/VE, and the Customer when developing new product.

 

?  Review and understand the cost estimate, and or quote for the project and ensure cost of the project falls within the budgeted cost estimate.  Complete the necessary ?Close the Loop? functions as determined by the policy.

 

?  Gather any information required from Sales, Project/Account Management, Purchasing, Manufacturing and/or the Customer required to complete the project.

 

?  Consider the needs of other departments for the successful manufacture of the product.

 

?  Offer ideas to improve the efficiency of the department, and profit margin of our product.

 

?  Follow projects on the shop floor to ensure accuracy of engineering, as well as, improve knowledge of our product and processes. 

 

?  Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all other departments and associates.

 

?  Visit stores and installs in order to gain knowledge of our products with relation to installation, purpose and customer need.

 

?  Perform other engineering related duties as assigned by the Engineering Supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 Skills:  Good general computer skills, comfortable with Excel, Microsoft Word and the Windows environment.  Able to locate and understand information in our MRP software such as, estimates, bill of materials, inventory levels and work orders.  Proficient with Inventor software.  Excellent communications and organizational skills.

 

Education: Associates Degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

 

Experience: 3-5 years related industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.  Experience in designing new products, organizing large projects.
