CAD Eng Designer I
Description: The RF CAD Designer 1 is a grade 52. To analyze and design the connectivity of all coax requests to the HFC Network.
To update and maintain system maps including base map, cable and fiber routes, addresses, RF design, technical data, systems integrity, locations of underground enclosures and pole attachments, future planning/zoning, and sizes/types of equipment placed.
To update RF Design database including CAD files and location, node profiles, number of MDU and R1 passing, number of actives by type, mileage by type (aerial or underground), powering data and map and location numbers for all existing and future planning of the network.
Tracks all RF plant and engineering solutions for projects including upgrade projects (whole hub designs); new build extension projects (new subdivisions that require a fiber optic feed); conversions (reroutes from overhead to underground, or moves required), Commercial projects, Multilink projects.
To provide cost analysis of all projects.
Performs RF related design and engineering functions and maintains database documentation, creating Coax as-built /RF maps, processing RF availability requests and estimates, engineering RF conversion, commercial, R1, MDU and CAW projects.
Designs plant to assist in Upgrade including reviewing node layout, reviewing existing plant and determining proper cell sizing, node balancing, powering options amplifier cascade, future development and potential community channels, forward node layout information to Fiber designer, oversees upgrade design Contractor during design, including coordination with construction, ITS, ICOMS, and fiber to communicate timelines and design related requests.
Reviews entire node after the retro has been completed for upgrade and extension as-built including verifying all locations in CAD/Design to ensure they are the same as what was constructed in the field.
Researches with Engineering, Fiber Designers, NBD, developers and future planning and zoning the extension and Commercial design.
Determines method to add PXE and/or Commercial new plant into existing network or future upgraded networks following the criteria for proper cell sizing, node balancing, powering options and amplifier cascade.
Designs the project using the approved corporate network design specifications.
Determines whether to make the design change or reject.
Determines method to design the plant change with minimal impact to the system/customer and minimize related construction cost.
