The LAS Abort Motor Lead will manage all aspects of the LAS Abort Motor cost, schedule, analyses and products in support of the CEV Launch Abort System (LAS) design, development and production. The LAS Abort Motor Lead is responsible for leading the LAS Abort Motor organization and subcontractors in the daily execution of duties that include requirements, test, verification and analysis as well as all aspects of subcontractor performance in the design, development, test and production of the solid rocket abort motors.
Duties also include interactions with systems engineering and requirements, integration and test at multiple locations, and significant travel.
The LAS Abort Motor Lead will report directly to the LAS Propulsion CAM.
Responsibilities include weekly interfacing with NASA and Lockheed Martin customers and propulsion teams, presentations at monthly reviews and technical interchange meetings, supporting deliverable documentation, planning and executing within cost and schedule, and supervising Orbital individuals and the performance of abort motor teams composed of Orbital, NASA, Lockheed Martin and subcontractor propulsion engineers.

This position requires a 50% presence at the abort motor supplier location in Utah.

BS Engineering, Math, or Physics required. Masters preferred.
10+ years of aerospace design and development experience is required with emphasis on launch vehicles and solid rocket boosters required.
Experience leading design and development teams required with emphasis in solid rocket propulsion and launch vehicles desired.
Experience managing major subcontractors and suppliers required with emphasis on launch vehicle and contracts >$10M desired.
Supervisory experience required.
Working Knowledge of Windows and MS Office.
Experience with NASA human rating requirements and programs desired.
Experience in the successful execution of rapid development and test programs desired.
