CHIEF ENGINEER: OFF-THE-ROAD TIRES 

The increasing global demand for Off-The-Road (OTR) tires has meant that manufacturers have been unable to meet an increased Australian demand caused by a resources boom. To meet the shortfall, our client has been importing bias ply OTR tires for a number of Australian organisations. To ensure longer-term continuity and quality of supply, they recently entered a joint venture with a major Chinese manufacturer located on China?s Shandong peninsula.

 

This newly created role of Chief Engineer will report to the Managing Director of the Australian partner and work closely and collaboratively with employees of the joint venture Chinese partner. The role is responsible for the design; manufacture and supply of bias ply OTR tires. The Chief Engineer is expected to spend time in China but can remain based in their home country if preferred. As a guideline, it is anticipated that the Chief Engineer will spend 3 months at a time in China.

 

You will require:?  A technical/engineering background having grown a career within tires, with exposure to OTR tires. ?  Tertiary engineering qualifications ?  Experience at dealing and supporting a manufacturing process with a track record of delivering outcomes to meet time, cost and quality targets

?  A preparedness to live in China for extended periods, perhaps needing to travel at short notice

 You will need to ?fit? with the Chinese culture, however you will not be required to speak a Chinese dialect, as an interpreter will be provided. The term of the contract will be flexible to accommodate the needs of the successful person, although a minimum term of 2 years is anticipated. The remuneration package is negotiable.
