Position Description:
Chevron Project Resources Company (PRC) is now accepting online applications for the position of Construction Manager - CCR Projects (0608-50157919) located in Houston, Texas through August 31, 2006.
Chevron plans to install two Continuous Catalytic Reforming Units, one each, at its Pascagoula and Richmond Refineries. The combined project is currently in Front End Engineering Design. The Construction Manager is a Key position on the Project Team reporting to the Project Manager. The work will initially be in an engineering office in Houston and will transition to the field locations for the construction phases of the work. Significant travel between Houston, Pascagoula and Richmond, CA is required. The total project cost is currently estimated at $700 MM.
Major Capital Project Construction Experience in the Refining Industry is a key requirement.
Ability to work as part of a team and the ability to effectively interact with a variety of project management personnel is critical. Must be flexible, goal oriented, have strong personal skills, a professional demeanor and the ability to work independently.
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Lead, plan, organize and coordinate the activities of multidiscipline owner and contractor construction team(s) during front end engineering and design (FEED), including constructability and construction planning, then in detailed design, administering bidding and fabrication under multiple contracts at multiple sites, leading to field installation, system completion/pre-commissioning and start-up. Ensure work is done safely, with the needed quality, on schedule and budget.
- Lead development and implementation of an Incident and Injury Free culture at the site for both Company and Contract personnel. Ensure development and implementation of contractor and subcontractor safety plans, emergency response plans, security plans and incident/accident investigation processes.
- Supervise and develop Company employees with particular emphasis on mentoring junior employees assigned to the project.
- Administer site contract issues and represent Company's interests. Develop and maintain positive working relationship with Company and contractor teams. Implement cost and schedule control processes and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred. In lieu of degree, 15-20 years direct experience in construction management on large (>$150MM) oil and gas capital projects and experience must include lead roles for oil company or major EPC contractor.
SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor?s degree preferred in Engineering.
- 15 years Construction Management experience preferred.
- Relocation benefits will be considered.
- Expatriate Assignment will be considered.
- This is a safety sensitive Position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- A strong safety champion who will lead a proactive Incident and Injury Free (IIF) Program to achieve "0" incidents and injuries
-Demonstrated knowledge of successful Construction Management Practices on major Refining Capital Projects
-Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision
- For internal candidates, CSOC Certification and Knowledge of the CPDEP process is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Operations Assurance Processes with particular emphasis on 1) equipment reliability design & implementation 2) Completion & Acceptance Procedures and 3) Commissioning & Startup
- Ability to lead and contribute to constructability reviews which will include modularization analysis during the design phase.
- Knowledge of the current contracting environment in the Gulf and West coasts.
