COST ENGINEER

SUMMARY Provides technical support with Project Cost Estimating and Control as required to meet project scope and job requirements by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Independently performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard estimating techniques.
Familiar with the functionality of the estimating system
Familiar with the methodology and philosophy used by estimating
Familiar with the various publications and where to obtain units for uncommon situations
Familiar with the common estimating metrics for the industry
Coordinate general estimating activities including general support, estimate reviews and implementation to control base
Interface and coordinate with internal and external clients as required for a successful and complete estimate
Participate in estimate kick off  and develop and maintain Estimating Checklist
Prepare basis for estimate
Determines the scope of estimating services
Develop estimate format
Develop estimate schedule
Contributes to the proposal efforts for estimating requirements
Works with Project Controls to establish correct organization of the estimate
Assists Project Controls in development of deviations during the execution of the project
Assist Project Controls in analyzing variances in cost against the estimate
Performs cost risk analysis and provides assistance in the development of contingency
Participate in estimate reviews
May provide regular guidance and direct supervision to other estimators
Maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures and perform assigned duties in a safe manner
Responsible for the safety of those being supervised and ensures they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits
Capable of performing any of the requirements for lower classifications

 

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor?s degree from four-year college or university preferred.
5-10 years of field experience in Small Projects Management or Construction Management.
