General Dynamics Information Technology has an openings for Sr. COTS/Network Engineer. The Commercial Off-the-Shelf Software and Product Implementation Team (COTS) is responsible for installing deploying and maintaining licensed COTS software and in-house developed software in a network environment. The COTS team provides technical leadership and direction for integration installation testing implementation and support of both COTS and in-house developed software. The COTS role includes documenting product analysis configuration and integration information according to standard operating procedure. Responsible for listing issues options and resolutions for tasking and projects as well as providing communication organization and follow through for projects. Participates in the establishment of policies standards and guidelines for effective delivery of software to the Client. Evaluates new systems software special purpose software and other related new technology for implementation recommendation as appropriate. It is the responsibility of the COTS team to keep abreast of technology changes technical notes and bugs in products used in the network environment. Obtain install and test patches and upgrades to applications ensuring that all products are current to the latest Client approved version. COTS provides third level support to the IT Support Center by assisting the technical staff in the resolution of software hardware and network problems relating to integrated products. The COTS role must be able to give presentations to IT Support technical staff Network Engineering technical staff Management and the Client regarding projects and tasks. The COTS role must be able to design develop and deliver client demonstrations/training for products being implemented for the Client.

BS in Computer Science Information Systems MIS and/or MCP required MCSE preferred.

Hands-on working knowledge of Windows 2000 Professional and Microsoft Office Suite current versions Internet Explorer current versions Microsoft Project current versions.

Knowledge of Windows Installer Technology, Altiris Wise Package Studio, Microsoft's Active Directory, SMS 2.0 and/or 2003. Scripting and Patch Management skills a plus.

The COTS team roles include; creating, testing and deploying packaged software; documenting product analysis, configuration and integration information pertaining to standard operating procedure; documenting issues, options and resolutions for trouble tickets and projects; providing communication, organization and management for project deployments; participating in the establishment of policies, standards, and guidelines for effective delivery of software to the client; evaluating new systems software, special purpose software and other related new technology for implementation recommendation as appropriate; keeping abreast of technology changes, technical notes and bugs in products deployed in the client production environment; obtaining, installing and testing patches and upgrades for production applications to ensure that all products are current to the latest client approved version; providing tier 3 level support for customer support center personnel by assisting the technical staff in the resolution of software, hardware and network problems relating to integrated products.
