Position Description:

Chevron Project Resources Company is accepting online applications for the position of 6 Capital Project Contracts Advisors (0608-50105016) located in Houston, Texas and other various locations through August 24, 2006.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Chevron has several international and domestic onshore and offshore major capital project opportunities. The capital cost of the projects range from $500MM to over $5 billion. The project team locations for this posting are Bangkok Thailand, Porta la Cruz, Venezuela, Houston, Texas and Los Angeles CA.

The Contracts Advisor (CA) position is a critical member the project team reporting to the Project Business Manager. Many of the teams are located at our Downtown Houston offices, but some are co-located in contractor's offices throughout the greater Houston area, and in some cases in foreign locations. The CA is responsible for the coordination of project contracting activities including compliance with Chevron policies and procedures, development of contracting strategies, EPC Bid Evaluation procedures, development of contract administration procedures, coordination of preparation of final contract documents, administration assistance of EPC contracts, preparation and administration of all 3rd party contracts. The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining interfaces with key stakeholders of the project.

Ability to work as part of a team and the ability to effectively interact with a variety of project management personnel and multiple cultures, and some Oil and Gas capital projects experience - Upstream and/or Downstream is critical. The position will involve both domestic and international travel including travel during weekends and may involve relocation to international locations as project requirements change. Must be flexible, goal oriented, have strong personal skills, a professional demeanor and the ability to work independently.


Qualifications:

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
The Contracts Advisor will be responsible for all of the contract functions, including:

- Coordinate the establishment, development & implementation of project contracting strategy and project contracting plan
- Establish and implement bid evaluation procedures and project contracting administrative procedures.
- Participate and support EPC bid document preparation, bid request, evaluation, contractor selection and contract negotiations.
- Provide primary interface with the various Chevron Legal and Contracting groups to finalize contract documents.
- Coordinate administration of major EPC contracts, including change management, lien waivers, insurance, claims mitigation and closeout
- Prepare and administer all 3rd party contracts.
- Ensure all corporate compliance needs of contracts are satisfied including insurance certificates, authority levels, approvals, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act etc.
- Ensure all Project JV requirements re contracting process are satisfied
- Point person for contract audits.
- Participate in the CVX CA/Administrator network.

SPECIAL SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS OR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS/INFORMATION:
- Bachelor's degree required in Engineering or Business.
- In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to 7-10 years direct experience in contracts formulation and administration, on large oil and gas capital projects. Experience must include Lead Project Contracting roles for Oil Company or major EPC contractor. Possible alternate backgrounds include (all should have oil and gas experience)
- Engineering background / engineering contract experience.
- Construction background / construction contract experience.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Ability to establish, develop and implement the contract strategy and contract plans for large domestic U.S. and international capital projects (project value in excess of $100MM).

- Experience in developing contracting administrative procedures and formulating bid packages for all types of contracts (reimbursable, lump sum EPC etc.)

- Ability to lead bid analysis, contractor selection and contract negotiation processes.

- Ability to at in lead role in the administration of major contracts, including Change Management, lien waivers, insurance, claims mitigation & closeout.

- Prior experience on a multi-functional project team with major contractors on a large capital project

- Willingness to travel and work in U.S. or international project locations on project team assignments.
