Scope of Position :
1. Lead fundamental understanding of ceramic materials and mfg process on material properties and product performance
2. Scope of work will primarily be with inorganics, but will also include working with organics for porosity and rheology control
3. Scope of work includes materials for substrates and for plugging
4. Key support resource for properties improvement projects and manufacturing trouble shooting
5. Develop and own the material and property Roadmaps and Strategy for Engineering and Manufacturing. Responsible for achieving alignment among M&E and R&D roadmaps and strategy.
6. Key interface with Sullivan Park on materials and property measurement technology transfer and exchange
7. Interface with division engineering raw material group
8. Technical coach

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Lead/coordinate Projects involved with:
1. Product and process improvement
2. Capacity increase
3. New products
4. Step-change projects
5. Fundamental understanding

Travel Requirements :
Likely minimal travel required

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
Typically 8 to 5 but will require flexibility to support mfg experimentationREQUIREMENTS

Required Skills
1. Deep knowledge of material physical properties, measurement methods, ceramic manufacturing processes, raw materials and raw material processing, material interactions in mixing and forming, material reactions during drying and firing
2. Project skills and understanding of the innovation process
3. Problem solving/process engineering
4. Data analysis
5. Manufacturing or Product and Process Development experience

Education and Experience:
MS Materials Science or Ceramics

Soft Skills:
1. Communication writing and verbal
2.Able to lead across multiple organizations
