Chemical Manufacturing Operations Director

The Manufacturing/Operations Director will be the key business executive responsible for manufacturing, quality, and on-time delivery of the components manufactured by the Agricultural Products Group Manufacturing & Operations in in Aisa and will be based in Hong Kong. In this role he/she will direct the activities of production planning, engineering, production, safety, production engineering & factory flow, quality assurance, material control/inventory management, maintenance, safety and compliance. This executive will be expected to help define production goals and track ongoing performance against these goals, demonstrating continuous improvement.  Senior member of Manufacturing Operations leadership team and expect to lead the development of manufacturing & sourcing strategies, annual performance goals and key talent recruiting & development program. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is strongly preferred. 

 

Responsibilities

? Manage production planning with staff to generate a production plan and objectives that optimize production flow and avoid plant stoppage an inventory build

? Lead the develop production schedules with an understanding of toller capacity to ensure customer orders are fulfilled in a build-to-order environment, cycle time is as short as possible, and inventories are maintained at optimal levels, track all cost categories (labor, materials, equipment) & demonstrate improvement in each category.

? Continually review operational metrics to ensure sustained continuous improvement in cost and quality; work with senior management to establish and track key operating metrics to monitor improvement. 

? Manage MRP system, maintain accurate and complete data input

? Manage the engineering group to foster problem solving for capacity and process and production improvements with toller plant personnel such that a demonstrable record of improvement is achieved, Lead the know how transference to the tollers and the projects implementation

? Development of standardized policies/procedures and adoption of best practices throughout the manufacturing organization. Document these policies/procedures and best practices as the basis for future plant openings.

? Oversee purchasing and materials flow, assisting with the determination of materials requirement vs. planned projects and production schedule.

? Develop and implement Lean Manufacturing methods and systems to increase inventory velocity, improve asset management, enhance profitable operations and continually improve customer satisfaction.

? Collaborate with Manufacturing/Operations controller to identify and execute upon cost reduction opportunities

? Coordinate with Global Sourcing Director to select suppliers for raw materials, intermediates and active ingredients

? Act as key contact with Agricultural Products Group US supply chain organization to ensure alignment of goals, and execution of global supply chain strategies

? Partner with Technology director to develop and implement cost reduction / process improvement projects at Manufacturing/Operations Tollers

? Participate in contract negotiations with Tollers and key suppliers to ensure cost are clearly understood and profit expectations are managed

? Develop annual budget for the Supply Chain organization and responsible for its implementation, prepare product standard cost budget including, process fees, raw material costs and capital project investments

? Ensure compliance with Responsible Care and Process Safety programs are properly administered at all API Toller sites.  Liaison with FMC Corporate and APG safety and health professionals, Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (customs, transportation, packaging, labels, EHS, environmental, etc) are routinely monitored and reviewed for compliance

? Ensure a fast and flawless commercialization and a first class service level

 

 

Education and ExperienceChemical Engineering degree with 15+ years experience in the chemical manufacturing industries with international experience; Experience in the production of hazardous complex small moleculesExperienced in developing and leading a cross functional team of professional and technical staffMotivated, self-starter that can execute with minimal directionStrong in oral and written communication skills Good understanding of the regulations involved in the manufacture and transportation of pesticides and related intermediates Experienced in negotiations with contract manufacturers to achieve a favorable outcome for all partiesFluent in English with ability to speak Mandarin/Cantonese preferredStrong financial understanding and ability to complete routine cost / benefit analysisAbility to travel on a frequent basis  ~ 70%Strong experience in project managementProfound knowledge in production planning, inventory management, logistics, procurement areasGood understanding of I&T tolls related to Supply Chain function. SAP knowledge is desirable.
