Chief Engineer of Hardware

Our Managed Network Solutions (MNS) Group located in Orland Park, Illinois is currently looking for a Chief Engineer, reporting to the VP of Business Development ? MNS, to oversee application hardware development for its Physical Layer Management Solutions, including intelligent patch management hardware and Power Over Ethernet (PoE) patch panels and hubs.  The successful candidate will manage a product development team including electronic and mechanical hardware designers and technicians.  He or she will be responsible for planning, driving and supervising all MNS hardware engineering functions, in a focused manner, to support Division/Corporate goals while anticipating & planning staffing and development needs for the department. 

 

The ideal candidate will possess a BSEE/MSEE with a minimum of 10 years experience in microprocessor-based electronic hardware product and firmware development.  Experience leading high-caliber embedded development team and familiarity with TCP/IP connectivity issues desirable.  Seven years? engineering management experience required.

 

Specific duties include:

? Lead a team of up to 20 electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineers to develop, test, and deliver advanced network-based connectivity products on time and on budget.

? Ensure adherence to Panduit and best-practice development processes and reporting.

? Administer in-house and outsourced development projects.

? Provide technical expertise to upper management and cross-functional teams.

? Communicate and follow through with middle and upper management on development and achievement of organizational goals.

? Collaborate with cross-functional groups (Purchasing, Suppliers, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.) to expedite projects, adhere to time & cost constraints, and resolve product-related production & customer issues.

? Effectively utilize project schedules, reports, meetings, etc. to track and communicate departmental goals to all levels of the organization. 

? Support the VP of Business Development ? MNS and staff in business planning and development as required.

? Meet or exceed Engineering Key Performance Measurements.

? Maintain current knowledge of competitive advantages, products and engineering technologies, firmware development and quality methodologies.

? Establishes, promotes, cultivates a culture for continuous improvement.

? Other duties as assigned.
