The City of Wichita Falls TX (www.cwftx.net) is seeking an inventive, analytical, problem solving, logical, organized, civil engineer desiring to move in to a leadership level position to plan, organize and oversee the design and construction of engineering projects to a successful completion. This is responsible professional and administrative work directing the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department, with considerable independence within the framework of established city and departmental policies and procedures. The City Engineer works under the general supervision of the Public Works Director. This work also involves responsibility for the work of the Engineering Division including survey, construction inspection, design and drafting; includes administrative and technical responsibility for design projects. Work is performed with considerable independence within the framework of established City and departmental policies and procedures.
Essential Functions Examples:
Plans, organizes and performs engineering work in the design of streets, sidewalks, drainage structures, bridges, culverts, utilities and related public works improvements. Performs and coordinates the investigation, development, design and construction inspection of a variety of engineering projects. Controls field work in progress through on-site inspections, review of reports and conferences. Provides technical engineering advice and assistance to other City departments and agencies. Coordinates City programs with state and federal agency programs when required. Performs and coordinates the preparation and review of plans, costs estimates, inspection reports, contract documents and similar material for capital projects.
Reviews subdivision plats and plans for public improvements submitted by contractors, consultants or the general public for conformance with municipal codes, standards and ordinances. Participates in the design of public works improvements; assists in the preparation of operating, capital improvements and grant-related budgets.
Attends meetings and public hearings related to capital improvements and makes presentations and answers inquiries.

Current salary range is $64K to $96K on an annual scale, $2,494 to $3,703 on biweekly scale, and placement is negotiable DOQ. Relocation allowance a consideration. Must be a registered licensed professional engineer, able to obtain the same in the State of TX, or able to obtain within 6 months of hiring. Applicant should be a graduate from an accredited four year college with major course work in civil engineering and considerable experience in engineering work. Must have or be able to obtain a Texas Class C Drivers license. There are many major projects that are ongoing and being planned.
