The CT & Steam Turbine Mechanical Engineer

 

Acts as liaison between station and millwright crews working on turbine rebuilds and overhauls. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent (4-6 years) power plant project management experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to read technical drawings and specifications, prior experience with Steam Turbines and Combustion Turbines, ability to manage construction contractors and maintain scheduling requirements, ability to write clear workscopes and create accurate budgets for capital projects. Desired (not required) qualifications include prior experience with power plant combustion equipment, experience working with scheduling tools such as P3 or Microsoft Project. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Job environment may include exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, heights, and confined spaces. 40 hours work week with additional time as required by projects and outage schedules. NIGHT SHIFT. DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT 6 MONTHS WITH POSSIBLE EXTENSION. ANTICIPATED START DATE SEPTEMBER 1 2006.
