GARMIN International is a world leader in GPS navigation and communications systems for aviation, marine, land and recreational markets.  Our continued growth and success have created an exciting opportunity for a Component Engineer at our worldwide headquarters in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

 

This professional will create specification control drawings for component parts, perform failure analysis on problem components, work with suppliers to resolve component problems to identify "root cause" and permanent solutions, perform component evaluations and qualifications, identify and promote the use of preferred components, work closely with suppliers to ensure quality at the source and qualify, approve, and audit component suppliers.

 

Qualified candidates will possess an Associates Degree in Electronic Technology or relevant experience and 2+ years experience in electronics with experience in component level design and/or troubleshooting. A working knowledge of all electronic component types and computer literary working with IBM-PC systems and applications is also a must.  BSEET or higher education, CAD experience, experience in statistical methods, SPC, Design Of Experiments, and familiarity with US and International quality, industry, and military standards, plus general knowledge of physics and chemistry are preferred.
