Concept Development Principle Engineer

Job Summary

As a Concept Development Principal Engineer you will be responsible for the identification, assessment, business planning and development of novel product concepts and business models that build new portfolio options for the Medical Surgical Business Unit. Supporting the growth of new businesses, you take a balanced view of the technology investment portfolio to integrate market needs with emerging technologies to create defensible, paradigm shifting product concepts. You are both a technical and business leader with interests towards technology development, strategic marketing and medical technology business development. Provide expert engineering/technical skill. Plan and lead technical development projects from concept to technology transfer to product development.

Lead technical planning, coordination and reviews. Maintain an overview of relevant technologies and products. Collaborate in the evaluation and assessment of competitive products, processes or new trends. Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principals. Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Conceive and develop novel technologies to advance business goals. Responsible for solving advanced technical problems. Plan, implement monitor and deliver technical solutions. Provide cross-functional leadership. Be accountable for projects success. Implement efficient and effective transition from research to product development. Identify, establish working relationships with and leverage best-in-best class product and development partners. Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely engagement of other parts of the company in development activities.

Requirements:

BS degree with MS or PhD in a relevant technical field. Minimum one launch experience in engineering/technical or product development preferably in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device industry with successful track record of delivering roducts to market or developing commercially viable technology.
