Controls Systems Technician

SUMMARY: Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties:

 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 



Works independently in a team based environment to troubleshoot electrical equipment on production lines for diagnostics and repair or to identify a need for additional resources.

 

Run diagnostic tests on malfunctioning equipment to determine whether problem is software, hardware, or operator/process related.

 

Diagnostics and repair in all areas of ABB, Fanuc, Epson, etc., (robotics).

 

Diagnostics and repair in all areas of Computerized Numerical Control Systems, including Siemens, Osai, etc.

 

Restore a CNC system from various backup media, utilizing documented procedures.

 

Diagnostics and repair in all areas of Motion Controls Systems including Siemens, Baumuller, Stromag, Indramat, etc? including optimization of control loop components and parameters.

 

Restore a complete Motion Control system from various backup media, utilizing documented procedures.

 

Diagnostics and repair of all Process Control Systems such as the Surface Treat and Plant Waste Treatment Lines.

 

Configure, diagnose, and repair RFID systems.

 

Configure, diagnose, and repair Industrial Vision Systems, including Cognex, Banner, Keyence, Winkhaus, NeuroCheck, etc.

 

Recognize and repair damaged electrical equipment before it results in lost production time; including but not limited to: light barrier mirrors, cables, proximity switches, relays, and motors.

 

Installation of electrical equipment in accordance with provided electrical schematics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Two years or more related experience and/or training preferred.



Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of managers, team members, co-workers vendors and customers.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



Technology and Equipment:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP Integrated Business software. Use of Microsoft Office Suites software and Microsoft Explorer browser in a windows operating system. Use of Lotus Notes.

Other Qualifications and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have background knowledge in reading and understanding engineering drawings and blueprints (both pneumatic and hydraulic). Individual should have basic workshop practices (i.e., hand tools, machining, component alignment, etc.)
