Customer Technology Manager

Essential Functions and Duties
Objectives of Position:


? Member of the Intel Global Account Team reporting to NA and Europe Regional Technology Director. Act as strategic technical link to Field Process Manager and Account Managers. Works closely with the account team on daily penetration activities.
? Maximize market share and revenue for the account team and Lam. Actively sell Lam's technological capabilities, products and services.
? Completely understand and articulate the key customers' technology roadmaps and develop, with the account team staff, the strategic penetration plans to intersect future tool buys.
? Extrapolate and project technology roadmap information into tool and process requirements for future systems. This will be done jointly as a team with the Global Product Group and NPD.
? Promote Lam's technological leadership within the region in order to develop and enhance customers' perceptions.
? Maintain and broaden technology relationships in Fremont, the industry and the academic community. Insure cross-fertilization occurs and that the region's capabilities improve as a consequence.
? Serve as high level technical backup to field process and product support groups
? Manage Field Process engineers supporting account team where applicable.
? Manage or oversee development work in Fremont or customer sites, as required, to win and/or maintain PTOR status.
? Provide technical pre-sales support for account team.


Mutual Expectations:

? As an integral part of the sales team, provide input in the development, execution and revisions of the strategic account plans for all specified RTG projects and new Lam products.
? Have an intimate understanding of the customers' technology roadmaps and translate this in to potential Lam sales opportunities. Develop key relationships with the customers' CTO, Integration groups, and Development teams.
? Work with Product Marketing, Product Management, and Engineering to insure future processes and systems will address any explicit or implicit technology "roadblocks" arising from consideration of the roadmaps.
? Provide regional Process and Technology presentation capability to reduce the dependence on Fremont staff.
? Work with Fremont and customers on technology collaborations, new Beta and evaluation agreements and executing these through the local equipment and process support people.
? Daily interaction with the sales and process teams to ensure alignment with account objectives at key accounts.
? Support field process activities as needed, including DOEs, project planning, and interaction with Fremont personal.
? Frequent interaction with other Regional and Account Team Technologists to share knowledge and customer technology trends.
? Escalation support for difficult process related issues.
? Support of Corporate technology community by presenting papers and attending relevant conference (AVS, Dry Process, ECS, Gordon Conf, IEDM) on behalf of the company.
? Act as a role model for other technical employees and management within the account team.



Travel Expectations:

? Travel to customer domestic sites as needed to affect success with items as outlined above.
? Quarterly overseas trips outside US. Planned in advance to maximize effectiveness.
? Travel to Fremont every 6-8 weeks for key customer visits, key technology meetings, or Field/Factory alignment meetings.

Qualifications
10 years minimum industry experience at a semiconductor device manufacturer or semiconductor equipment supplier in process engineering, process development, or integration
3 years minimum management experience
BS or higher degree in Chen, Physics, Chemistry, or EE
