DEPLOYMENT CHAMPION

Establishes, coordinates and provides leadership for Continuous Process Improvement initiatives, including development strategy, policies, objectives, plans, organization and procedures focused on integrating Continuous Process Improvement into E. & J. Gallo's operations. Includes Corporate-wide deployment of LEAN SIX SIGMA as primary business system driving Continuous Improvement. Ensures Gallo Continuous Process Improvement efforts meet guidelines, criteria and metrics established by the VP, Lean Six Sigma Corporate Champion, and with corresponding VP of corporate function sponsoring key initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Develops and maintains infrastructure (business diagnostics/opportunity identification, project gating, resource allocation, best practice sharing, etc.) to support continuous improvement activities within Winery and effectively coordinates these activities with the Gallo Management Committee and their management teams.
? Ensures projects are properly defined and financially justified.
? Manages development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring degree to which the Continuous Improvement goals, objectives and metrics are met.
? Provides Winery Management with results and recommends appropriate corrective action.
? Recruits Black Belts into Continuous Process Improvement infrastructure, helps them define/justify their projects, coaches them on using Six Sigma methodology and good project management, helps remove project barriers and ensures continuing development of skills.
? Interfaces with all E. & J. Gallo functions, suppliers and subsidiaries to establish Continuous Process Improvement requirements related to individual products and services. Requirements should focus on customer needs and associated functionality, reliability, salability and value of product.
? Ensures Continuous Process Improvement considerations are properly addressed as early as possible in the design/development phase.
? Ensures two-way open communication throughout organization for Continuous Process Improvement. Includes keeping Gallo Management Committee members and designated management teams informed of program status and ensures coordination of activities between Black Belts and Green Belts.
? Provides quantitative data indicating scope of the operation, including: current year and forecast sales, gross margin, total assets controlled, number of personnel, operating budget and any other quantitative factors which describe the scope of the operation.
? Responsible and accountable for leading and resourcing project teams which deliver no less than $5M per year of economic benefit to E. & J. Gallo Winery.
? This position has significant impact on the success of the E. & J. Gallo Winery. The improvements will improve the Winery?s ability to meet customer expectations, improve quality, reduce cycle times, and reduce cost.
? The Deployment Champion shall become a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt through training provided by E. & J. Gallo Winery.
? Understands continuous improvement, project gating, resource allocation, quality and financial principles and applies them to analyze the planned activities.
? Completes at least one (1) significant and complex Black Belt project per year. In addition, the candidate will teach and train Black Belts and Green Belts in a formal classroom environment. The minimum job tenure for this position is at least 24 months.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
? Bachelor?s degree from four year college or university, preferably in engineering or life sciences or equivalent work experience, 3-5 years of professional level experience in Continuous Process Improvement with prior supervisory or management responsibility. Should have solid project management skills and team leadership skills.
? Knowledge of other functions that provide inputs regularly, i.e., Research and Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations. Should have general knowledge of all E. & J. Gallo business functions and a working knowledge of statistical analysis/problem solving.

? Learns and understands fundamentals driving E. & J. Gallo Strategic Imperatives as outlined by the CEO and the Gallo Management Committee.
? Ability to lead and direct a change process. Must be a results oriented ?change agent? who is an effective business systems thinker.
? Ability to effectively communicate with all levels to maintain relationships and cooperation in pursuing the Winery?s goals.
? Ability to influence, negotiate and resolve conflicts to reach consensus around common goals.
? Ability to be pro-active, analytical and process driven with a strong focus on understanding and exceeding the expectations of the customer.
