Director, Manufacturing Engineering (#1483)

 

This is a key leadership role within our Value Manufacturing Engineering group.  This is a tight knit technical group charged with implementing mission critical manufacturing projects.  This leader will provide direction for a staff of five employees (Project Managers, Engineers and Technicians).  Projects include significant work in the boundary layer between R&D and Manufacturing Engineering as well as process improvement projects for mature product lines.

 

The core areas of responsibility for this group are: Commercialization and advanced engineering support for new products in our Critical Care and Cardiac Surgery businesses (concept to launch)Sustaining engineering support for existing products across four MFG facilities (Salt Lake City, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Brazil) Broad-based engineering projects such as line transfers, product reallocations/modifications, multi-plant efficiency/optimization initiatives, etc.Multi-site/product quality issues and corrective actions

 

Strategic projects could include: risk management across Edwards' MFG facilities, determining optimal product MFG locations, product outsourcing evaluation, equipment updating vs. replacement studies, staff and resources allocation, and creating a shared services/center of excellence mentality across this team and the larger organization.

 

This position interfaces across multiple functions including Marketing, R&D and HQ/field manufacturing.

 

Requirements:Minimum of twelve years medical device project management experience. Significant leadership experience, to include managing a technical staff of exempts/non-exempts required. A proven track record of successfully managing multiple manufacturing sites.Previous medical device industry experience required.Automated MFG equipment, fixturing, and packaging experience.A Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Manufacturing) is required; a Masters degree is a preferred.Strategic outlook and the ability to identify trends, anticipate needs, develop a strategy with group buy-in and lead the charge.
