As a subsidiary of Crane Co., Stamford, CT, we have the financial resources of a large company, while our size allows individual customer partnerships. Founded in 1949, we are based in Los Angeles, CA, have a manufacturing facility in Reichelsheim, Germany and distributors around the world.

We are looking for a recent graduate to fill the role of Drafter. In this position, you will be responsible, under general supervision, for transforming initial rough new and re-designed product drawings into final CAD drawings as well as reviewing engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to company and outside agency established specifications and standards.

 

Examples of Essential Functions:

1.Create Computer Aided Design (CAD) engineering two and three dimensional drawings using Solid Works.

2.Revise and maintain old drawings in VB Edit & CAD Key format.

3.Based on engineering and/or Sales & Marketing input, revise and create installation and maintenance instructions and data sheets for all products.

4.Support all Barksdale departments regarding requirements for drawing maintenance and updates.

5.Maintain database for all models and drawings.

6.Creates and revises product nameplate and bar code label designs using label making software.

7.Creates technical documentation for end-user support such as writing engineering change revisions, marking up bills of material, and creating graphics displays.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Associates Degree in CAD/Engineering Drafting; Ability to prepare clear and concise written documentation.

 

Knowledge of:

Demonstrated capability to use a 3 dimensional design software package and ability to work effectively with Engineers and Sales and Marketing staff

 

Skills:

Knowledge of the following programs: Cad Key 7.5, Solid works, Adobe PageMaker, Corel Photo paint, Corel Draw, QAD, PDM Works.

 

Ability to:

Visualize mechanical components in three dimensional relationships; create and revise engineering drawings and technical documents; analyze and solve technical design and drafting problems; organize and coordinate work with others; meet scheduled deadlines; make mathematical computations quickly and accurately; understand and follow written and verbal instructions; communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers, departmental representatives and management.
