Deputy Project Director

Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting the Project Director in daily hands-on details from the conceptual stages through designing, planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, and close-out. Will directly supervise six to 12 fulltime employees, including staff level professionals, and 10 to 12 subcontractors. Responsible for budgets, quality control on deliverables, manpower, contract issues and risk management strategies. Provide direct senior level engineering and technical support to our client. Also responsible for setting time schedules and milestones, coordinating the participation of responsible teams and subcontractors. Will work with Project Director to define the major task areas and communicate this information to work teams and subcontractors. Provides technical review and direction, trains staff and performs technical functions as required to meet project goals. Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of a high performance project team. Coordinate with Accounting/Contract Manager to maintain prescribed financial control and monitor metrics; in developing of budgets and schedules, monitoring progress, and assuring project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget.

Experiences Requirements:
At least 5 years in positions of major responsibility, such as Deputy Project Manager/Director or Project Manager/Director on civil and/ or landfill projects. Prior success in project management experience on large, complex projects in excess of $20,000,000 is essential. Minimum 20 years of experience in civil engineering, landfill remediation and landfill control systems preferred. Proven experience in exercising sound judgment while complying with all Company practices and policies, state and federal laws, including OSHA regulations, and legal contractual requirements. Experience and expertise in interacting with all levels of management, support staff, customers and subcontractors with a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Must be able to provide leadership, vision and strategic direction while guiding the project to completion. Must have ability to resolve conflicts and provide solutions in a professional manner to the satisfaction of clients. BS in Civil Engineering required, MS preferred. Must be licensed civil engineer; preferably in California. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be computer literate and have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, project and civil engineering software
