Design Engineer 2 of Assembly /Test Tools & Instruments for Optical Assemblies

POSITION SUMMARY ? Design Engineer 2 ? Optical Systems

This engineering position in the Systems Organization will provide manufacturing tools and inspection instruments, and support assembly methods used to fabricate precision optical assemblies. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

? Design tools and instruments to assemble and test precision optical assemblies.  

? Provide manufacturing engineering support to the assembly methods used to fabricate precisions optical assemblies. 

? Review product drawings for manufacturability and effects of dimensional tolerancing on the function of the assembly.  Assist in product and tooling design reviews. 

? Work in a team environment with product, manufacturing, and production engineers and technicians to identify and develop process improvements and cost reductions. 

? Work with suppliers and product engineers to improve part quality and reduce fabrication costs and provide documentation and analysis spreadsheets to support the manufacturing process. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

? Bachelor?s degree or minimum of 5-10 years of equivalent work experience. 

? CAD experience is required and UGNX2/NX3 CAD and TCE and geometric tolerancing preferred.   

? Experience with micron and submicron assembly and measurement methods is preferred. 

? Experience with ISO 9000 and supplier certification, optical handling methods, clean room protocol, and the ability to perform process capability studies and lean manufacturing techniques is desired.
