Design Engineer - Exterior Lighting

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA) is the alignment of Toyota's North American R&D and manufacturing operations.  The Engineering Design 1 (ED1) Department of the Toyota Technical Center Division has a current opportunity for an Exterior Lighting Engineer.  This opportunity would be located at our Ann Arbor, Michigan location.

 

Responsibilities include:

* Coordinating the design and development of Automotive Exterior Lighting.
* Understanding Toyota methodologies and processes for vehicle development.
* Scheduling, making, designing and issuing parts drawings using CAD.
* Planning development with suppliers and follow-up to ensure that schedule and Toyota performance requirements are met.
* Monitor and adhere to project schedule.
* Investigate and make countermeasures for field issues.
* Report weekly status to superiors and support regular department reports to management.
* Benchmark competitor vehicles.
* Perform other duties as assigned.



* Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* General understanding and application of standard engineering theory, principles and problem solving techniques.
* Analytical problem solving abilities.
* Ability to effectively coordinate projects.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, design and TMC.
* Experience and willingness to use CAD.
* Domestic and international travel is required.
