Development Engineer, Materials Specialist

Job Responsibilities :

* Researches technology issues to support goals of product development, field problem-solving, standards and automation.
* Plans and develops test programs based on known project definition; procures materials needed to construct prototypes; carries out testing as necessary.
* Analyzes test data and documents results.
* Develops physics-based models for design standards and sales tools
* Performs technical analysis of competitive products.
* Comes up with innovations and new ideas, and researches new technologies, that can make positive impact on company's interests.
* Continually improves infrastructure in-house R&D capability; networks with professionals inside and outside the company to benefit from their knowledge and experience.
* Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
* Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

* Master's degree (M.S.), or higher, with specialization in material science, or related field, and 2-5 years related experience is preferred.
* The engineering skills required for this job include: strong understanding of basic sciences as necessary in undergraduate engineering level; advanced understanding of engineering materials and their applications, wear-resistant materials and coatings, failure analysis, materials microstructure and corrosion; static and dynamic seals, and testing. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are advantages.
* The computer skills required for this job may include: Design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or ProE), Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. Ability to write computer programs in Visual Basic and macros is desirable.
