Development Engineering Manager

The Development Engineer Manager will carry projects and lead the group in the following:

 

The engineers? product development activity will result in rapid and on-time launch of robust systems.  Take the leading role in assuring that product designs exceed all external and internal customer expectations while maintaining good design practices. Support efforts to achieve continuous improvement.

 

1. Take the leading responsibility in assuring that product designs exceed all external and internal customer expectations.

2. Play a key role in supporting the simultaneous design of the part, the tool, and the process.

3. Support the entire company ? supplier - customer value stream through new and existing product development, technical assistance, communication on engineering, design and application issues, modeling, tooling and fixturing and continuous improvement.

4. Provide training, guidance and mentoring to the development engineers.

5. Recommend new systems to improve Product Data Management capabilities and reliability.

6. Develop quantitative systems to measure and report department performance.

7. Assign projects and work load to optimize resource utilization.

8. Manage engineering CAD, hard copies, specifications, procedures.  Create departmental work instructions and procedures for the related process as required.

 

This position will supervise three development engineers.

 

Qualifications

1. Good communication skill on both written and verbal, including customer and supplier interface.

2. Ability to lead, motivate, develop and mentor team members.

3. Working experience on plastic part design, especially for decorative, tight tolerance and high volume production. 

4. Proven knowledge in injection mold design and molding process. Knowledge of 2-shot molding and Gas assist molding is a plus.

5. Good understanding of mechanical designs and processes, specifically on tooling, machining, plating and pad printing.  Ability to define part fit and tolerance is required.

6. Knowledge in either ISO or QS, working in appliance/automotive industries is a plus.

7. BSE required. Proven experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

8. Skillful in Pro-Engineer newest version is a must.
