SUMMARY

Performs a variety of medium level engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing construction, installation, operation and test of electrical digital components, equipment or systems under general supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

1.  Plan and perform digital engineering research or design development assignments, including responsibility for the digital engineering of part of a major project or a project of lesser complexity

2.  Translate product specifications into usable digital engineering data applicable to the particular assignment

3.  Conduct the development of each assignment

4.  Coordinate the activities of associate engineers or technicians assigned to specific digital engineering projects

5.  Perform engineering analysis of lesser complexity digital circuits or systems

6.  Perform assignments requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity

7.  Take directions from project engineer or department manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Knowledge of C and assembly language a plus

2.  Experience in real time microprocessor based control systems a plus

3.  Experience with FPGA design a plus

4.  Good communication skills

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in electrical engineering or equivalent from four-year college or university and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
