Director of Engineering

$300 million dollar company in the growing building materials manufacturing industry seeks a Director of Engineering.  This position is located the attractive Mid Atlantic Region and requires at least 10-15 years functional experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Purpose/Primary Function: 

Accountable for all resources and activities including engineering projects, packaging, maintenance, manufacturing technology, environmental, health and safety throughout the corporation.  Manage overall planning, staffing and coordination requirements to support Corporate objectives.  Provide direction for quality and productivity improvement.  Provide the management and direction on strategy and policy to enable these groups to be effective in their service and planning functions as well as budget and customer responsibilities.  Establishes the overall objectives and initiatives of the engineering function.  Provide leadership and direction to engineering specialists.  Develops ideas for new equipment or process enhancements and oversees the development and improvement of processes that involve the engineering specialists.  Must have a B.S. in Engineering preferably M.E. and a graduate degree or equivalent experience.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  Responsible for the overall direction of engineering projects included in the capital plan.  Includes project responsibilities for engineering, estimating, contract negotiation, contractor management, financial budget control and close-outs.

2.  Responsible for the oversight of the maintenance of the plants and all of the equipment.

3.  Assure environmental, health and safety compliance throughout the plants.  Maintain a safe work environment for all employees.

4.  Provide guidance for the development of packaging systems including materials, processes and specifications to ensure the quality of Client materials in the plant and the distribution chain to the customer.

5.  Coordinates planning, organization, budgeting, program timing and specifications for all projects and assure timely and high quality delivery.

6.  Provide management review and control of activities in areas of responsibility.  Manage the expense and capital budgets associated with Engineering to achieve agreed upon targets that impact EPS, income, cash flow, capital employed, and asset value.

7.  Provide the leadership and vision that will maximize the Company?s ongoing and future potential in the growth market.

8.  Provides engineering expertise to other departments where needed.
