Director of Mechanical Engineering

 

We have an immediate opening for a Director of Mechanical Engineering who will be the senior mechanical designer and responsible for managing a staff of four SolidWorks CAD designers and an in-house machine shop.  In addition to performing the typical administrative duties such as work assignments, employee reviews, and employee development, the manager is expected to be technically proficient in order to provide technical leadership to the group, generate innovative solutions and support existing programs. Technical activities will span from initial concept development (prototype builds) all the way through manufacturing and maintenance of designs.  Program activities include prioritization of projects, manloading assignments and scheduling.

 

Requirements:

? BS in Mechanical or Optical Engineering

? Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience, preferably in optics and/or opto-mechanical systems

? Extensive SolidWorks experience is a must.  CAD design productivity is a must ? not just management.

? Good organizational and managerial skills ? interacts well with broad range of individuals and departments

? Knowledgeable in structural design, mechanism design, thermal and fluid analysis, materials, and budgeting.

? Knowledgeable in Design/Drafting standards, geometric tolerancing, ISO and FDA requirements
