Position Description:

Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co. is accepting online applications for a Drilling Engineer located in New Orleans or Lafayette, LA. through December 31, 2006.

Drilling Engineer in Chevron?s Gulf of Mexico Drilling and Completions group for Chevron North America Exploration & Production Company. Projects and work expectations will be set by the East and West Drilling Engineering Manager. Typical Scope of operations consist of offshore Gulf of Mexico development well drilling and exploration/appraisal well drilling.

Qualifications:

? Research and plan all D&C fluids programs for GOM well operations. Inclusive of Vendor, fluid and related equipment selection
? Responsible for supervision of all D&C fluids operation, which includes work direction to contract/vendor Fluids Engrs
? Onsite supervision of fluids (and related personnel) during critical operations
? Establishes and ensures standard procedures, which includes testing and equipment calibration. Establishes qualifications and job expectations for vendor/contract Fluids Engrs ? evaluates and selects same.
? Works in cooperation with TSM as subject matter expert relative to Global Procurement initiates, purchasing strategies and inventory controls
? Teams with ETC on new product evaluations
? Captures Best Practices and Lessons Learned for input to the Knowledge Mgmt group needs
? Participates in peer reviews and project look-backs


Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.

Demonstrated experience in offshore well engineering operations and drilling fluids programs.
Ability to coordinate and standardize procedures with Total Supplier Mgmt, Vendors and Fluids Engineers.
Strong network capability and desire to seek the best solution and practices. Actively shares Best Practices and lessons learned
