POSITION OVERVIEW:

ELECTRICAL POWER DESIGN ENGINEER


?Knowledge and experience in planning and design of high and medium voltage electric utility transmission and distribution system

?Knowledge and experience in planning and design of heavy industrial electric power systems

?Knowledgeable of electric utility standards and practices

?Ability to understand and utilize electric system codes including: NESC and NEC

?Knowledge of utility and industrial short circuit and protective device coordination and processor relaying system

?Knowledge and experience with high voltage and medium voltage switchgear and motor control systems and equipment

?Knowledge and experience of and with large medium voltage synchronous and induction motors

?Experience in planning, design, procurement of equipment and construction of substations, transmission and distribution and lines

?Experience in managing electric power projects from planning to commissioning

?Ability to troubleshoot and restore electric service following power outages

Duties include:

?Coordination with local utilities

?Plan proposed new electric power facilities with due regard for reliability, cost and needs of the process supported

?Perform short circuit and protective device coordination studies

?Assist in commissioning of electric power systems

?Prepare construction cost estimates and power cost estimates to enable the evaluation of alternative water delivery systems

?Manage the design for electric power facilities serving and within SNWA including transmission lines, substations and medium voltage distribution systems

?Review local utility plans to avoid conflicts with SNWA?s existing and proposed facilities

?In put descriptions of proposed power facilities to personnel preparing impact statements and licenses

?Prepare and/or review and approve engineering standards for electric power equipment and distribution schemes

Education:

?Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and 12-15 years related work experience
?Registered Professional Electrical Engineer
