Requirements

Goodyear is North America's largest tire company, manufacturing and marketing tires for most applications. Global Engineering and Manufacturing Technology has the responsibility to invent, design, and deliver product and process technologies to make Goodyear's Business Strategies achievable. This department engineers and integrates new technologies to support new products and increased manufacturing capability. It also provides direct and timely support to plant production, engineering, maintenance and energy conservation.

Job Content

This position is responsible for development of computer applications for the manufacturing operations, including participating in standards and strategies for the engineering computing environment. This includes work with software applications development, computer hardware, operating systems, systems software, utilities and tools, back-up and recovery solutions, program interfaces and web applications development for manufacturing plant floor applications.

Occasional plant trips may be required to coordinate the installation and startup of systems or system upgrades and the training of plant technicians.

Job Qualifications

Required:
* Minimum education - BS in engineering or related technical field, computer science or equivalent work experience in computer systems technology (three years minimum)
* Demonstrated ability with PC-based technologies, networks & web technologies
* Demonstrated ability or experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems development, configuration, administration and support
* Experience with Unix or Linux operating systems
* Working knowledge of database stored procedures
* Knowledge and experience with programming languages including C/C++, Visual Studio tools, Java
* Demonstrated ability or experience in web design, including servers and browsers, configuration and administration
* Good communication skills (verbal and written)
* Experience leading and participating in a cross-functional support team environment, sharing knowledge and experiences with other team members in support of team responsibilities
* Ability to interact with customers from a broad range of computer experience and skill levels in a friendly, open-minded manner
* Ability to interface with and manage outside consultants/contractors hired to supplement the teams resource requirements
* Willingness to travel within and outside the U.S.

Desirable:
* Working knowledge of databases and structures (Oracle preferred)
* Working knowledge and experience with any of the following:
Scripting Languages (i.e. VBscript, Javascript, etc.)
PHP Scripting Language
IIS/ASP web design, JSP web design, VB.NET programming
* Working knowledge of SCADA packages
* Knowledge of programming in the Ethernet environment
* Knowledge of control systems and PLC's is a plus
