ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN SUPERVISOR ? CONSTRUCTION

 

Monthly Salary Range $5,511 - $6,699

 

THE POSITION

The Contra Costa County Public Works Department is offering an excellent opportunity to qualified individuals for the position of Engineering Technician Supervisor?Construction. Under general direction from the Division Head, the Engineering Technician Supervisor?Construction is responsible for performing specialized and essential technical civil engineering work in connection with the construction of Public Works and privately funded development projects. This position will supervise the activities of a staff of construction inspectors and provide technical assistance and training to Public Works staff members.

The eligible list established from this examination may remain in effect for six (6) months.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

License Required: Possession of a valid Driver?s License.

 

Education: Completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university with at least 15 units in engineering and/or advanced mathematics courses, plus completion of courses in algebra, geometry and trigonometry taken in high school or college.

 

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience inspecting and/or managing the construction of roads, drainage systems, and appurtenant structures.

 

Substitution for Education: Work experience in drafting or other engineering related technical areas may be substituted for the required college units on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two (2) years.

SELECTION PROCESS

2. Oral Examination: The examination will consist of an oral interview conducted by a Qualifications Appraisal Board in Martinez, California. Candidates may be required to review a problem exercise immediately prior to the interview and discuss proposed solutions with the Board. The Board will evaluate the job-related qualifications of each candidate. Candidates must receive an overall score of at least 70 from a majority of the Board to be ranked on the employment list. (Weighted 100%)
