Electrical Design Engineer

Several positions at different levels available. Responsibilities: Design/detail vehicle chassis and hull (body) electrical systems, harnesses and electrical sub-systems by applying engineering principles utilizing CAD techniques. Design experience in commercial, military or off-highway vehicles would be helpful.
Interface with engineering peers, other departments and suppliers in all phases of design, test, manufacturing and after-market support. Analyze problems and provide technically feasible concepts and materials for the most effective and economical solutions. Develop documentation to support the vehicle electrical design activity, i.e. engineering change notices, bill of material creation, schematics, harness drawings and engineering release processing. Interface with Product Regulation and Compliance personnel to design vehicles that meet government regulations, restrictions and codes. Participate in customer inspections and review meetings. Assist production personnel and customer service in providing technical support. Capable of independent, innovative and cost effective design work in a custom, fast-paced vehicle manufacturing environment.
Requirements A BSEE with minimum 3 years of design experience or proven/appropriate industry experience (5 to 30+ years) in one or more of the following is preferred: vehicle harness design, ABS/ATC vehicle brake systems, vehicle data bus design, electronic engine / transmission systems, automotive battery systems, heavy vehicle charging and load management systems, electronic vehicle interlock systems or MIL-STD electronic systems, heavy vehicle drivetrain design/integration, bolted joint design, NVH, familiarity with welding and metal forming operations. Proficiency in SolidWorks or other CAD systems is necessary. Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. Knowledge of FMVSS, SAE, MIL-STD and ANSI Z245.1 is desirable. Previous project management experience involving military programs would be a plus. System and creative thinking required with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization. Team building skills are a must for this position.
