Electrical Design Engineer / Mfg Equipment Controls - direct hire (431A-2472299e)

Our client, an established and growing design and manufacturing firm in Central NY, has an immediate requirement for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for production equipment controls.

Description:

- Design manufacturing equipment control systems using established design standards with an eye to current technology and industry trends.

- Develop bill of materials and requisition components for projects, maintaining compliance with approved vendor lists.

- Incorporate standard control designs and ancillary subsystems to efficiently meet project requirements and facilitate safe, productive startup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.

- Commission equipment, including final acceptance, prior to shipment. Commission equipment at customer's facility as required.

- Perform all work in a manner that meets project scope, cost, deadlines and quality standards.

- Provide direction and support to Electrical, Assembly and Service personnel, both in house and in the field, as required for execution of designs.

- Communicate in a manner that assures clarity and understanding with both internal and external customers.

- Contribute as a member of a team of design professionals to achieve project, department and company goals.


Requirements:

- BSEE or other relevant BS degree with minimum 8-10 years experience in a design-build manufacturing environment. Experience must be hands-on and well-rounded.

- Programming experience with primarily Allen-Bradley SLC and Contrologix. Other platforms helpful.

- Strong AutoCAD or Inventor skills.

- Experience with HMI systems.

- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components.

- Robotic experience (especially Fanuc) is a plus.

- Strong communication and team skills.

- Ability to multitask with several concurrent projects.

- Positive, flexible, proactive attitude.

- Able to accommodate 45 hour average work week.

- Willingness to travel (largely domestic) approximately 4-6 times a year, sometimes on short notice.

- Servo knowledge a major plus but not absolutely required.
