Electrical Engineer in RF/Antenna Design

Our client in Flemington, NJ is looking for a candidate to fill the position below on a temp to hire basis. The client would work on a contract basis for 2-3 months before becoming an employee of our client.

SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION: Electrical Engineer in RF/Antenna Design:

Required Skills: This position requires one to three years of programmatic experience in research and development of antennas and RF/microwave circuits and a minimum education level of a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, preferably w/ strong RF/Antenna Design curriculum. The individual must understand fundamental antenna and RF circuit theories and have experience designing, developing, and testing antennas and RF components.
Desired Skills: Experience using computer-based RF circuit and electromagnetic simulators is desired. The position necessitates work on government development contracts requiring both a security clearance and antenna RF technologies. The individual must possess good oral presentations, and support proposal efforts with cost estimates and technical write-ups.

The Engineer-Radio Frequency (RF)/Field must have a strong understanding of the details surrounding Radio Frequency (RF) network design, capacity planning and optimization activity for a specific market or region of the country. A region is defined as an area with existing or proposed Sprint PCS wireless telecommunications networks. A market is defined as a contiguous area capable of service offering. The RF network design skills and knowledge required for this position will include the ability to develop theoretical RF designs utilizing propagation prediction software. These models are used in conjunction with friendly site information, zoning information and regulatory information to find optimal locations for new Sprint sites. This includes field site visits, model tuning through drive testing and database engineering. The RF capacity planning skills and knowledge required for the position will include the use of subscriber forecasts and trending of existing traffic to design and develop network enhancements to handle increasing traffic loads. Expanding a networks capacity will involve adding new sites or additional base station equipment to existing sites. The RF optimization skills and knowledge for the position will include the ability to perform continuous monitoring of an existing networks performance to maximize network quality.
In addition, the Engineer must support the activities required to integrate and optimize new cell sites so as to ensure successful communication with the surrounding sites. Included in the general skill set is the ability to coordinate with all RF Engineers, contractors and vendors. The Engineer will also participate in tracking budgetary expenses related to regional and market network build outs.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for the overall engineering design and system performance of the assigned PCS market or group of sites.
Determine site search areas, height, antenna type and power.
Ensure the system is designed appropriately using propagation software to aid in system design and using solid RF Engineering principles.
Monitor, analyze statistical and drive test data to improve system performance indicators such as dropped calls, blocked calls, origination failures, handoff features and to meet departmental goals.

Experienced with various drive test units. Previous experience with the FCC and FAA filing and zoning meeting are preferable.

BSEE with 2 years experience in GSM/CDMA or an equivalent engineering degree with 3-5 years experience in PCS/Cellular RF Engineering required.
Hands on experience with GSM technology REQUIRED.
