Position Description:Detect SME supporting CIED directorate

 

Educational background - Selected candidate should have an Electrical Engineering Degree. 

 

Required Skills/Experience:
Must have knowledge in the following areas: radar, optics, laser, radio-frequency, etc, Experience with trade studies and market analysis a plus.

 

Secret clearance required

 

Overall Scope of the Position - The qualified candidate for this position would serve as a Subject Matter Expert in IED Detection for the CIED Technology Directorate responsible for establishing a strong program of technical analysis to vet CIED technology solutions.

 

Major duties of the candidate will be as follows:

? Represent command by providing cohesive interface to the DoD, CIED community

? Identify technology capability gaps and propose new technological solutions

? Review and contribute to all test and evaluation (T&E) related documentation prepared by other Marine Commands and joint services.

? Prepare reports and proposals to brief senior leadership/DoD community

? Perform market analysis and track all technology development for CIED related equipment.

? This will require participation in multiple technical working groups to represent Command interests (including Naval and Joint forums), as well as generating technical position papers related to COTS and NDI solutions. 

 

This effort also entails SME representation among stakeholder groups and committees (e.g., OPFORs, DoD and Joint stakeholders).  The selected candidate will be responsible for providing expert engineering assessments in critical areas of interest (e.g., IED detection technologies involving radar, optics, laser, radio-frequency, etc, supplemented with a strong program of technical analysis to establish an effective program of trade studies and accelerated testing of COTS/NDI product solutions. This includes providing subject matter expertise (SME) as part of a comprehensive engineering/analytical efforts, ensuring the interests of the CIED Director are suitably represented at IPTs, working groups, and high-level oversight boards.  Key facets of performance include SME support for requirements analysis of emerging interoperability initiatives, conducting product engineering assessments, and technology planning to ensure seamless integration with external agencies / systems. Responsible for providing a sound, analytically-based set of recommendations that supports COA selection representing an objective assessment of available CIED strategies.
