Flow International Corporation (Flow), the inventor of abrasive waterjet technology, is the world leader in the development and manufacture of ultra high-pressure (UPH) waterjet systems.  Operating in 14 countries and with over 800 employees, nearly 60% of all waterjet systems sold in the world are made by Flow.  Our UPH technology is used for pure and abrasive waterjet cutting and surface preparation applications.  We currently have an opening in Kent, WA for a Sustaining Electrical Engineer.

 

The Sustaining Electrical Engineer is responsible for released product quality and focused support to reduce installation, service and warranty costs for Flow International?s products, as well as ensuring continued productivity for customers.  Acquire, analyze and maintain data to rapidly identify prioritize and address issues.  Travel on short notice (not to exceed 25%) will be required.  Duties include direct support of Technical Services during installation and service of Flow equipment; acquire, analyze and maintain field incident log; drive open issues to rapid, permanent solution and closure and formally report status and solution process; create and communicate resolutions to relevant groups, worldwide, through Service Bulletins, Technical Service Documents, detailed installation and service procedures, troubleshooting and fault logic flow charts, product specifications, etc.; respond to manufacturing requests for support on the standard product assembly line; actively pursue cause and corrective action for failed components from warranty returns; actively voice opinions of Field Service Engineers, customers and manufacturing in product development programs to provide a more durable, reliable, user-friendly, cost-effective product; interface with vendors and all internal Flow departments; develop training programs and train Field Service Engineers on new and existing products and travel to customer sites to gather data and assist with machine installations, servicing and customer buy-off when necessary.

 

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor?s degree in Electrical Engineering; plus a minimum of 2 years relevant experience or a Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering; plus a minimum of 1 year of experience relevant experience.  Other requirements include the following skills: must have knowledge of electrical engineering principles, techniques and Promise-E software ; possess a working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and techniques including robots, controls, hydraulics and 3-D solid modeling software; have a high level of analytical ability where problems are complex; possess exceptional verbal, written, presentation and communication skills; have the ability to work independently on projects in addition to functioning well in a team environment; have highly developed  interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, solicit input from customers, motivate associates, and elicit work output; have the ability to take initiative and be highly self-motivated; have demonstrated ability for innovative/creative thinking; be familiar with ISO, automation, product design, and value engineering and must have the ability to travel on short notice, stay for short periods and provide for business expenses prior to reimbursement.
