Electronic Ballast Designer

JOB SUMMARY:  Design and development of innovative electronic fluorescent lamp ballast products including the developing of new product designs, selecting purchased parts, developing procedures and testing fixtures, determining product capabilities, meeting with customers and developing price quotations.  Perform technical interface between the Company and product manufacturers in China.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Design innovative, reliable, and easity manufactured electronic fluorescent lamp ballast proudcts for the general and sign lighting industries.

* Assist in the development of production processes and testing procedures.

* Make design changes to existing products to achieve cost improvements, product performance, and to improve product manufacturability.

* With customer, marketing, and manufacturing input, ensure efficient product development by producing accurate and useful product specifications and by maintaining project schedules.

* Maintain accurate, thorough, up-to-date written and formal project history including project specifications, test data and analysis information, design developments, and any other information as is necessary to secure patent rights, address product liability claims, and correctly document for production any new, improved, or changed product or process.

* Confirm product capabilities by developing and implementing testing programs and procedures.

* Assist the sales department in determining product profitability by preparing new product cost estimates for review.

* Determine product capabilities by supervising the construction, testing, and approval of prototype units and customer samples.

* Collect data as required for submission to listing agencies.

* Travel between US and China several times per year and speak fluent English and Mandarin Chinese.
