Electronics/Computer Engineer (EE/ComputerE)

Westar Display Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Westar Aerospace & Defense, Inc., has an immediate opening for an Electronics/Computer Engineer in our St. Charles, MO location.
Summary:
The engineer has responsibilities in test and integration of electronics and associated firmware and software to be used primarily in, but not limited to, WDT?s universal tester products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Hardware Design:
? Altera FPGA design
? Microcontroller firmware design (generally 8051-based)
? Interconnect design
Software Design:
? Design, implement and test software applications targeted for PCs (generally in Visual Basic and C)
? Design, implement, and test web applications
Hardware and Software Debug / Integration
? First Article prototyping, debug, integration
? Integration of new capabilities into existing products
? Troubleshooting bugs and integrating fixes
? Reverse engineering to determine pin out and timing protocol for undocumented displays.
Customer Support
? Work closely with customer to define requirements and deliver solutions for complex video processing and display drive requirements
? On-site liaison with critical customers
? Write user?s manuals and application notes
? Successfully manage tasks from multiple product managers
Other
? Provide assistance in WDT product repair
? Provide assistance in WDT production
Budget Control:
Various indirect budgets may be under the control of the engineer, who makes decisions to spend or not to spend money based on sound business judgment while being consistent with the company's objectives, core values, and spending practices.

Education and/or Experience :
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Engineering (BSCE) from four-year college or university. Related experience and/or training is a plus.
Language Skills :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills :
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
