Embedded Firmware/Hardware Engineer

The Company:   Energy Innovations (EI) was established in 2001 to deliver cost effective, grid-competitive solar electric power.  The company?s immediate goal is to reduce the payback time for a solar system so that it becomes a logical and compelling investment for electricity users around the world, whether they are grid-connected or not. 

 

To execute this strategy, EI has developed a patent-pending, compact tracking concentrator system to convert sunlight to electricity. Additionally, the company is partnering with leading high-concentration cell providers to license (exclusively) jointly developed high-efficiency solar cells for use in its collectors.  EI has created its first product, the Sunflower 500, in the lab and will be performing extensive beta testing to ensure long life, reliability and ease of manufacturing and installation. Once these characteristics are achieved, the company will release the product to US-based resellers and installers who are focused on the commercial and industrial markets as well as energy entrepreneurs.  Following successful deployments in those arenas, the company will expand to the residential market as well as to markets outside the US.

 

  Key Position Accountabilities: 

?  Design, from system requirements, microprocessor, digital and analog

   electronic circuitry for control and monitoring of photo-voltaic electricity

generating units. Includes motor controllers (stepper, DC and brushless),

   sensors (electrical, optical), power monitoring and control, low-power

   consumption circuits, power supplies

 

?  Microprocessor and microcontroller based. Specify components, design schematics and layout printed circuit boards

?  Prototype and test designs. Design for low-cost mass-production. Write embedded software drivers and test programs

?  Work cross-functionally with other company departments to ensure use of appropriate technologies and design approaches

 

Requirements:

 
BSEE or higher degree
Minimum 5 years of electronics design experience, including microprocessors, digital and analog circuits
Minimum 3-5 years of embedded software experience in assembly language or C, writing drivers and test code
Experience with taking designs from concept to full production
Experience with computer-based circuit design and PCB design tools (e.g. PADS)
Experience with document control and configuration management (from user perspective)
Demonstrated ability to work in team environment
Self motivated and quality conscious
Ability to travel to manufacturing partners in Asia 1-2 times per year
