Engineer

The J.R. Simplot Company is seeking an Engineer for our Smoky Canyon Mine facility in Afton, WY.  The successful candidate will support operations by providing technical support to the mine and mill. Responsible for short-term mine planning, which includes pit designs, dump designs, haulage systems, and mine sequencing. Responsible for some long-term mine planning which includes completing feasibility studies, ultimate pit designs, reserve analyses, and reclamation plans. Responsible for some geologic modeling. Responsible for providing technical support for safety, environmental compliance, mine permitting, and operations. Must be able to manage projects.

Requires Bachelor's Degree from 4-year college or university; prefer one plus years of related experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must possess the ability to contribute significantly to the solution of applied problems. Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communications skills required. Also requires excellent project management skills that allow the incumbent to coordinate project activities at all employee levels with other operating or engineering units to facilitate project completion. Prefer candidate who has passed EIT. Computer Skills including AutoCad and Microsoft Office a must. Experience with mining software packages a plus. Phosphate experience also a plus.
