Engineer, Prin Six Sigma - 101001 - Sylmar, CA - 0300

Job Description: Primary Function Develop and implement specific manufacturing control and ergonomic improvements that lead to a leaner, safer, faster manufacturing line. Coordinate the development of specific data collection and control systems and metrics that aid manufacturing in knowing how it is doing and when things are going wrong. Be a champion of Kaizen events, Six Sigma Projects, and Lean improvements that continually take waste out and reduce variation of the manufacturing and business processes. Be the technical lead in the layout of new facilities for lean operations, effective use of space and continual improvements in the existing manufacturing layout and line design.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Design and implement manufacturing and process metrics and control for monitoring line performance
2. Champion and lead Six Sigma projects and Lean implementation efforts following the DMAIC approach
3. Assist in understanding the sources of cycle time variations and implement long-term improvements that reduce cycle time
4. Contribute technical information to the formal training modules for Lean, Six Sigma, and manufacturing control
5. Own the detail layouts of new manufacturing lines, improvements to floorplans and space utilitization.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills
1. Must have very strong Lean experience in ergonomics, flow, layout and control, and process metrics
2. Very strong background in Lean and Six Sigma's DMAIC methods, experienced in making significant improvements
3. Experience with FDA and ISO regulations is very helpful
4. Good presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written.
5. Must be very methodical and thorough, able to take high-level perspective views of problems and analyze technical requirements from a variety of perspectives
6. Must have strong leadership skills
7. Must be performance-driven and possess clear vision and direction of world-class change management.
8. A passion for making significant improvements
9. Strong project management skills.
10. Ability to work well in team environment, with sound negotiation and problem solving skills
11. Bachelors degree required. Advanced degree a plus.

Experience
1. A minimum of 5 years of Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt Experience

Education & Training
1. BSBA or similar 4-year degree is required.
2. Significant formal training in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methods (Certified Black Belt)

Physical Environment/Working Conditions - e.g. assembly line, lifting requirements (up to __ lbs.) etc.
Work in manufacturing areas with heavy vacuum equipment, some lifting to 60 pounds required, ?dirty-hands? work with vacuum systems assembly and testing.
