Engineering Analyst/Technician
Responsibilities include:
-Compile data, perform computations, analyze results, and prepare reports to assist in the resolution of technical problems concerning processes, equipment, and products. Resolves or proposes resolutions for design, construction and/or operational problems in ship's systems based on established specifications, procedures, etc. May obtain assistance of professional Engineers in the analysis and resolution of more complex engineering problems.
-Review technical documents from both an editorial and technical perspective, make appropriate corrections, and prepare final drafts to ensure that finished documents are accurate and meet the predetermined objective.
-Prepare technical instructions to ensure engineering standardization in such areas as ship operational procedures, data requirements, report format, etc.
-Prepare/review material/component specification documents, provisioning technical documentation, and review vendor responses to ensure conformity to established specifications. Process/resolve discrepancy reports, and requests for waivers and deviations. Prepare related indices, catalogs, requisitions, records, etc.
-Detail work breakdown from engineering drawings for work levels and responsible shops/departments; determine the best method for product fabrication; and produce detailed work instructions in support of shop fabrication, assembly and shipboard construction.
-Group all information pertaining to items needed by the Trades (material descriptions, types, control levels, quantities, sources and ship/shop routing designations, etc.), from Material Identification Marks on engineering drawings to produce a Construction Bill of Material (CBM) to support shop fabrication, assembly and shipboard construction.
-Develop and/or modify maintenance standards, such as maintenance requirement cards and technical repair standards for equipment/components. Review configuration change documentation to evaluate impact on maintenance standards and prepare impact assessment reports. Develop, write, and/or modify the technical content of ship equipment, systems, and damage control manuals, and review and/or modify related illustrations and selected record drawings for technical accuracy.
-Prepare provisioning technical documentation which establishes the range and depth of spares, tools, and test equipment carried on ships, tenders, and stocked in the Navy supply system. Develop records of equipment and components to support the Navy's preparation of ships' Consolidate Shipboard Allowance List (COSAL). Prepare requisitions for repair parts as required by the COSAL. Manage stowage record

This job requires an Associate's degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Design, etc.), or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
A working knowledge of the Navy's programs, standards, materials and testing procedures is required. NNS production experience, preferably gained through the Apprentice School, is desirable.
A candidate must be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, mechanics and/or materials to the specific problems assigned. In addition, a candidate must be able to write clearly and concisely and have the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
May require the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, including those aboard ships under various stages of construction or overhaul, including the use of vertical and inclined ladders, and may involve limited kneeling, stooping, standing, etc.
May require the ability to obtain and retain specific security clearances as well as full or partial radiation worker qualifications.
An incumbent is given specific work assignments and then receives general supervision while the task is being completed. However, an incumbent is permitted to vary his/her work routine within the limitations of the Division's procedures and precedents.
