Engineering - Designer/Drafter
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Design Engineering Manager, assists engineering team in the development of new designs, processes, and materials for customer orders. Responsible for the preparation of drawings, specifications, sequences, and other related engineering documentation.
Essential Functions:
? Creates drawings to assist engineers in developing product designs.
? Develops preliminary sketches or schematics, layout, detail, and assembly drawings.
? Gathers all necessary information to develop a final design.
? Provides design assistance for moderately complex engineering assignments including products, parts, components, or portions of major projects.
? Completes work according to standard engineering principles and practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
? May help design prototypes or modifications to existing product or equipment.
? Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
? Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area.
Job Qualifications:
? Associates Degree in Engineering field or related technical field with 2-4 years relevant experience and/or training in a related field.
? Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.
? AutoCAD, Solid Modeling and/or LISP experience required. Familiar with manufacturing processes such as heavy equipment mfg., welding technology, control panel, materials technology, manufacturing methods technology preferred.
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
? Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
? Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements:
? While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-30 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard operate equipment and read application information. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
