Engineering Manager

Engineering Managers will provide technical direction for one of our process or product areas.  This position is expected to lead process and equipment engineering efforts to find solutions to yield, defect, process control or production related issues.  This position requires a high level of communication skills to effectively communicate throughout the organization.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:BS degree in Engineering; advanced degree preferred12+ years of related experience; experience in a high volume Manufacturing facility strongly preferredMust be knowledgeable of the latest toolsets and processes Familiar with the latest trends in yield improvement, defect reduction and SPC process controlStrong cross-functional skills to work with other departments on significant projects Strong mentoring skills to help provide direction and training to department engineers and techniciansHigh level of initiative and desire to make a significant and immediate impact on operations

Samsung Austin Semiconductor L.L.C. is one of the most advanced semiconductor fabrication plants in the world. Samsung Austin produces Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) chips - most commonly used in personal computers, workstations and servers. The US-chartered company is owned by Samsung Electronics, the giant $60-billion Korean high tech company, and is the company's only semiconductor manufacturing plant located outside of Korea.

 

On April 14, 2006 Samsung Electronics? board of directors announced their decision to invest in a new 300mm fabrication. This new fab will bring greater cost competitiveness to Samsung Austin Semiconductor. The 300mm fab will be located next to the 200mm fab.  Construction should be complete by the second quarter 2007. Once complete, this new fabrication plant will be the size of nine football fields, which will make it the largest fab in the U.S. This new facility will be capable of producing the latest in flash or DRAM memory chips using design technology in the 50 nanometer range.
