Goodrich Sensor Systems is a recognized leader in advanced MEMS pressure sensors and systems - high performance in harsh environments. As pressure sensor products continue to grow, our MEMS technology is now being applied to Inertial Sensing.



The MEMS Microstructure Design Engineering Manager is responsible for the development and transition to production of advanced silicon MEMS sensing elements and wafer processes. The position typically involves leading several projects simultaneously, utilizing resources from across several functional groups. The position is vital to the success of Sensor Systems and requires both technical and business leadership skills.



Technical Leadership:

- Lead a team of mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing engineers from conceptual trade studies through to qualification and production release.

- Leverage expertise in MEMS, PCB and integrated electronics, microelectronic packaging, environmental compatibility, test systems, and materials to develop products compliant with harsh environment specifications.

- Plan, execute, and oversee Project Development Plans to include Mil-STD-810 and D0-160 compliance.

- Oversee the use of Pro/E, ANSYS FEM, Matlab, L-Edit, and other CAD tools.


- Work closely with vendors in the specification and selection of manufactured and purchased components.

- Resolve manufacturability design issues and implement design for six sigma techniques.

- Oversee the implementation of ECOs to support production, proto-type development, and disposition of non-conforming material.

- Implement lean product development techniques and initiatives.



The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in MEMS technology, test systems, innovation, and consolidating multiple customer requirements.



Business Execution:

- Lead direct reports and other team members to meet project timelines and deliverables.

- Mentor, lead, and motivate staff supporting multiple programs.

- Contribute to budgeting process and employee performance reviews.

- Support systems groups in development of technical proposals and program reviews.

- Assist with customer communications, marketing, tradeshows, and strategic product planning.

Applicant must qualify for access to U.S. export-controlled technology. Non-immigrant visas will not be sponsored for this position. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, or designated refugee or asylee under U.S. law.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a BS/MS in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering and at least 8 years direct experience in MEMS sensors or systems design and development.
