Job Category: Manager
The Engineering Manager is a key member of the ASI management team with responsibility for managing current and next generation foundry wafer fabrication process technologies.S/He directly supervises process engineers and coordinates process development/integration with all aspects of an advanced commercial sub-contracted fab organization and facility.
Summary of Responsibilities: The Engineering Manager provides direct on-site coordination of American Semiconductor and sub-contractor fab operations in San Jose. All ASI managers, technologists and engineers are ?hands-on? contributors and this position requires an experienced engineer that can supervise and run process equipment, utilize analysis equipment and define process development approaches and techniques. Responsibilities include:
? Recruit, motivate and mentor engineering staff.
? Develop and sustain manufacturing processes, including SOI-CMOS, CMOS and custom.
? Provide analysis and insight on complex manufacturing issues.
? Assess equipment capacity, capability and options.
? Work closely with site managers, production and quality departments.
? Improve the quality, productivity and cost effectiveness of ASI?s fabrication processes and the timely introduction of new technologies into the fab.
? Prepare weekly and quarterly reports to management on the status of key issues and projects
Personal traits: The Engineering Manager must be highly self directed, pro-active, innovative and energetic. S/He will embrace having a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Must be able to lead engineers and the work of others, S/He has a can-do attitude, willing to work until success is achieved, can go ?hands-on? and is able to multi-task. S/He relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and is familiar with a variety of the CMOS production process and device concepts, practices, and procedures.
Previous experience: Past experience supervising engineers or technicians is highly desirable. Semiconductor fabrication experience is required in multiple major fab areas such as: photolithography, metallization, etch, diffusion, etc. S/He must have current/recent fab experience in a production environment within a wafer fab production facility. The ASI fab environment is an advanced sub-100nm facility and the ability to interface and work closely with production staff is of extreme importance to success in this position. Skills:
? Leadership in technology development and manufacturing
? Recent wafer fabrication process engineering experience is mandatory.
? Prior Knowledge of Photo/Etch/Thin Films/Metallization/Implant and Metrology techniques.
? Demonstrated success in process development, qualification and sustaining
? Ability to work well with others and some project management experience is a plus
? Strong communication, interpersonal, and planning skills.
? Excellent communication and documentation skills
? Experience in IC process integration in CMOS
? Thorough understanding of sub-micron device physics and semiconductor processing
? Knowledge of advanced developments in areas such as Silicon-on-Insulator, Strained Silicon, Double gate structures, leakage power etc is preferable
? Experience with typical Foundry technology files likes Spice models, DRC decks etc.
? Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Education: MS or Ph. D. preferred, preferably in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics. At a minimum, a BS degree is required with at least 7 years industry technical experience.
